North American bird populations have declined dramatically, with nearly 3 billion birds lost since 1970, affecting both common and rare species across all habitats. Now more than ever, it’s important to take proactive steps to create welcoming, beneficial habitat where birds can thrive. Victoria Alzapiedi will discuss practical steps to take, including adding native plants, to create a healthy haven for birds in our yards and open spaces.
Victoria Alzapiedi provides eco-friendly native plant garden design consultation and coaching, focusing on creating bird and pollinator habitat. She has extensive experience as an educator and advocate working on local and regional environmental issues.
She is the Chair of the Town of New Castle Conservation Board, a member of both the Westchester County and the New Castle Climate Smart Communities Task Forces, and is co-founder of New Castle Healthy Yards and New Castle Pollinator Pathways.
