Ethical Societies celebrate graduation from our Sunday Schools. Graduation ceremonies are planned with the students, their parents, their teacher, and the Society’s Leader. Graduates take an active role: speaking or sharing their graduation year projects or presenting performance. Often parents and teachers speak as well.
This project is developed in the final year of the program with the help of a mentor who works closely with the graduate and participates in the graduation ceremony, along with parents, friends, and family. Mentorship is a unique opportunity to model the act of promoting the wellness and greatest potential of our fellow humans–a main tenet of our humanistic philosophy. It can be deeply rewarding and memorable for both the graduate and the mentor.
Societies have also developed a Coming of Age ceremony reflecting their communities and recognizing the growing maturity, competence, and responsibility of their young people.
