This presentation will identify and address current issues and challenges confronting LGBTQIA+ youth in child welfare settings. Specifically, identifying and confronting legislative barriers to providing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender expansive youth with affirming, supportive care.
Linda M. Diaz, Esq. is a graduate of CUNY Law School at Queens College. For over 30 years she has represented children and youth in their foster care, abuse, neglect, termination of parental rights and custody proceedings. Currently, Ms. Diaz is a senior staff attorney at Lawyers for Children, a nonprofit law firm providing top quality legal representation and social work services to children and young people in civil proceedings in Family Court.
