Having recently discovered my ancestral roots to the Ojibwe First Nation, I will share my exploration of the importance of culture and traditions as a way to expand self-identity, embrace interconnectivity and establish community. Central to this journey was a recent trip to Northern Minnesota for fieldwork with Ojibwe tribal elders and members of three indigenous nations.
After a twenty-year career as a market researcher of patient and physician healthcare communications, Anne completed Columbia’s Master’s degree (2015) in Narrative Medicine. For seven years she was director of youth education for the Ethical Society of Northern Westchester (ESNW.) Since 2017 she has been a lecturer for the Narrative Medicine Certificate of Professional Achievement program.
