From its founding in 1876 the Ethical Culture Movement has been active in social justice endeavors, and it continues to do so now. See our list of Current Projects. Over the years, our focus has included: education, child labor, prison reform, labor relations, health care, civil liberties, democratic development, racial justice, etc. We work together on progressive causes in our local community as well as working with the American Ethical Union, and the National Ethical Service to the UN, on national causes. A sample list of local organizations we work with:
- IFCA: Interfaith Council for Action in Ossining (we are among the founders),
- Community Voices Heard
- A-Home
- WESPAC
- NAACP
- Ossining Food Pantry
- Neighbors Link
We also do a Shared Collection once a month, where the proceeds are split with one of the organizations we support (a list including all local social justice and support organizations as well as some AEU sponsored organizations). For our current list of social action projects see Current Projects.
