Stress and the Heart

September 11, 2018 by Firefly

Join us at 11AM on September 16th for a discussion on stress and the link between stress and heart disease and what you can to about it.

Erica C. Jones, MD, FACC will describe how everyday stress, anxiety, depression and burnout can cause an increase in heart attack and stroke, and how we can work holistically to improve that risk.

Erica C. Jones, MD, FACC is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and the Director of HeartHealth, the Cardiovascular Prevention Program of the Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Jones earned her B.A. from Northwestern University in 1987 and M.D. from New York Medical College in 1992. She completed her training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and has been an attending cardiologist there ever since. Dr. Jones’s clinical interests and expertise lie in all aspects of cardiovascular care, specifically preventative cardiovascular health, lipid disorders, heart disease in women, assessment of coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and hypertension. She is involved in numerous clinical research studies exploring imaging to discover preclinical cardiovascular disease, the effects of stress on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, and how behavioral change affects cardiovascular risk. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. She is a member of the American Society for Preventative Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.

All ages welcome. Children’s programs run concurrently with our regular meeting, and babysitting is available for children under age 5.
