ESNW founding member, Roland Reisley will speak about his lifelong affiliation with Ethical Culture, the formation of our Society in the 1950s, and the individuals and families who brought it to life.
As a teen, Roland attended the Sunday Evening Club, a youth group run by the New York Society for Ethical Culture. After graduating from NYC’s High School of Music and Art, he majored in physics at Cornell University. Roland retired in 1985 after a career that began in the field of physics and culminated in owning and operating an electronic instruments firm. He later consulted on international technology exchanges involving Japan, France, and Israel.
Roland is the author of “Usonia New York: Building a Community with Frank Lloyd Wright”; he joined the Usonia Homes Cooperative in Pleasantville in 1950 and is now the last original client of FLW still living in the home Wright designed for himself and his wife Ronny, who died in 2006.
