The Magic Circle: Empowering Kids Through Theater
in an Age of Screens
ESNW welcomes Peter Royston, Director of the Music Hall Academy, a
new performing arts enrichment program housed in the Tarrytown
Music Hall, Westchester’s oldest working theater. Peter will explore how
theater and the performing arts can give young people control and
agency in a time when more and more of our attention and control is
being sapped away by screen time and social media.
About Peter Royston: After directing his own classical theater company in NYC for ten
years and a career creating educational materials and programs in which he wrote over
50 study guides for Broadway, Off-Broadway and touring productions, and co-founded
Broadway Classroom, the educational theater program for Broadway.com, he spent
fifteen years as a well-known theater educator throughout Westchester. Through
various organizations and school districts, he has directed countless in-school theater
residencies musical producations, and plays with young people of all ages.
