An AEU All Societies Program
On February 7, 1949, renowned civil rights activist Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois addressed the New York Society for Ethical Culture, giving an impassioned speech that called out the need to face facts about enslavement and racism, and to acknowledge the contributions of people of African descent.
Dennis D. Parker will deliver a verbal reenactment of Dr. Du Bois’ address, which at the time, pointed out numerous examples where the facing of those facts had not occurred, and today serves as a timeless reminder that we cannot create a better future without also looking to the past.
