December holidays, celebrated in the dead of winter may have taken inspiration from earlier attempts by our ancient forebears to come to terms with the short, short days of this chilly season, when the sun seems to hide its face.
They, like our present-day celebrants probably lit lights to brighten the long darkness. And they came together to confirm their social connection with ritual, just as we do today.
Join us for our annual Winter Celebration of unity, through the power of song, story, dance, music and a myriad of ESNW talents!
Still time to volunteer your talents of all kinds! Sing a song. Tell a story. Dance like no one is looking. Strum your guitar. Jingle those ivories. Toot your horn. DJs welcome too. Contact Milt Steinberg at msteinberg@fordham.edu
