Join guest speaker Loretta Oleck for a discussion of the refugee crisis and reading of poems from her recently published book of poetry, Paper Chains, which was inspired by her volunteer work at a Syrian refugee camp in Greece. Loretta will speak about experiences with trauma from her perspective as they relate to her roles as a practicing therapist, artist, poet, and playwright.
Loretta Oleck is a humanitarian, psychotherapist, creative artist, and author with multiple books in the field of mental health and three books of poetry. She is also co-owner of Muddy Water Coffee & Café in Tarrytown NY. Loretta’s work has been published in reviews and journals and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her latest book “Paper Chains” (Finishing Line Press) has become the inspiration for a play.
