The Ethical Society of Northern Westchester seeks a teacher for our
Sunday morning (11 to 12:30) Ethical Education Program.
You will collaborate with our lead educator, a Narrative Medicine Columbia masters graduate, to develop and implement the ethics curriculum for children 6 to 12 years of age.
Requirements
- Be present at ESNW from 11AM-12:30PM every Sunday from the second Sunday in September to the last Sunday in June except for the Sundays before and after Christmas
- Be prepared to teach all ages of children from age 6 to 10.
- Willing to become familiar with the American Ethical Union’s core values
- Prepare activities each week that reflect these core values, with emphasis on the development of critical thinking, empathy, compassion, resilience, and service to the community
- Prepare the children for public presentations as part of our annual Spring festival (5-10 minutes, optional), Winter Festival (5-10 minutes, optional), and, in consultation with our Lead Ethics Educator, the Children’s Platform (a 1-hour presentation, typically in May; required)
- Willingness to meet with parents upon request
- Childhood education background a plus. Students welcome.
Salary based on experience.
Position begins immediately.
